BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A beloved favorite is spinning back to life at the Birmingham Zoo.

After a 3-year closure for renovation, the Protective Carousel at the Children’s Zoo Gate is now back open to the public. Built in 2002 by Carousel Works, it features 36 hand-carved endangered animals plus 2 chariots.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Oct. 27 before officially opening to the public Oct. 28.
