CULLMAN, Ala. (WBRC) - Cullman’s Christkindlmarkt has earned one of the 25 spots in Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town Contest!
Cullman’s Christkindlmarkt is an annual tradition inspired by Cullman’s German heritage. According to the description on the Merriest Christmas Town Contest, it “blends Old Warm charm with Southern hospitality, creating an experience that feels like stepping into a Hallmark Christmas movie.”
The market draws hundreds of people every year with booths of mulled wine, food, trinkets, an ice skating rink and more. Many people said it already feels like a piece of a Hallmark Christmas movie in Alabama, and winning the contest would just make it more official.
Being in the top 25 means that Cullman does get named an official Hallmark Christmas town, which includes their countdown to Christmas, branding for the Cullman Christkindlmarkt, the downtown and entire season. The town that wins the entire contest though becomes the setting and filming location for an original Hallmark Christmas movie.
