HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WBRC) - The West Rock Mountain Nature Preserve is more than just a walking trail - it’s a way to reconnect with nature.
The City of Hueytown announced the new space is open with more than six miles of hiking and biking trails through the mountain landscape, including Tornado Alley, Gober’s Gorge, The Coal Chute and more.
But, Hueytown Mayor Steve Ware said it’s not just about the trails.
“It’s about creating a place where families can explore, exercise, reconnect with nature, and take pride in the beauty we have right here in Hueytown,” Ware said. “West Rock Mountain Nature Preserve represents an investment in our community’s future and quality of life.”

Ware’s Ridge, named after the mayor’s commitment to expanding outdoor recreation opportunities in Hueytown, overlooks parts of the trail system and surrounding mountain terrain.
