BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Xbox is getting ready for one of its biggest events of the year without former CEO Phil Spencer for the first time in years.
The Xbox Games Showcase will once again feature first gameplay looks and news on upcoming titles from first- and third-party studios.
As per usual, once the Games Showcase ends, Xbox will give an in-depth look at one of its biggest upcoming first-party games. The focus this year will be The Coalition Studios’ Gears of War: E-Day.

The next entry into the Gears franchise will serve as a prequal to the original Xbox 360 game, taking players back to the start of Emergence Day.
This deep dive will give fans new details and show off gameplay from the highly anticipated game, with gamers hoping to get an official release date.

If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area in early June, Microsoft is bringing back Xbox FanFest as the company prepares to celebrate 25 years since the original console’s release.
The 2026 Xbox Games Showcase comes as new CEO Asha Sharma is making changes big and small to the gaming giant in the hopes of refreshing the brand.
In April, the company announced a price reduction to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate while making also making more subtle changes to the brand’s name and logo.
Xbox Games Showcase and Gears of War: E-Day Direct will air back-to-back June 7 at noon CST on Xbox’s YouTube channel and other social media outlets.
