Kid Cudi cancels Birmingham show, citing low ticket sales

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Grammy Award-winning rapper, Kid Cudi, has cancelled his show in Birmingham, according to a post shared by the artist and the page to purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.

“The Rebel Ragers Tour” was meant to stop at Birmingham’s Coca-Cola Amphitheater on Tuesday, May 5. Kid Cudi was set to be joined by Big Boi, A-Track and M.I.A.

M.I.A. has since been removed from the tour, according to a post shared by the rapper on Instagram.

Kid Cudi cited “offensive remarks” and “rants” made by the artist as his reasoning on removing her from the tour saying, “I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, ‘cause I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood.”

Kid Cudi took to Instagram to discuss the cancellation of the Birmingham show, saying it was due to low ticket sales.

“I wanted to go to Alabama because its one of the many places in the US where I haven’t every performed,” Kid Cudi explained. “I wanted to give y’all a special experience, but the ticket sales just weren’t strong enough. I hope y’all understand.”

The Ticketmaster website says anyone who purchased a ticket will have a refund issued to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase as soon as the funds are received from the event organizer. It should appear in the buyer’s account withing 14-21 days.

Kid Cudi is the second artist to cancel a show in Birmingham in the span of a few days. Post Malone cancelled his Birmingham show, among others, on Friday, May 1, citing his realization that he couldn’t make new music and have it ready before his next tour begins.
