MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Hero Doughnuts & Buns in downtown Montgomery has shut its doors.

The Birmingham-based restaurant opened in the Capital City less than one year ago in May 2025. It was located on North Perry Street just minutes away from the Legacy Museum.

A sign taped on the door says, “Hero Diner is now closed. We are grateful for your business and support this last year!”

Our Birmingham sister station, WBRC, reported Tuesday that Pihakis Restaurant Group was named a defendant in a lawsuit filed by meat and seafood supplier Evan Meats, Inc., which claims the group owes nearly $400,000 for food already received.

That lawsuit claims Hero’s Montgomery location owes about $6,300. Little Donkey, another Montgomery restaurant affiliated with Pihakis Restaurant Group, also allegedly owes nearly $45,000.
