BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Subscribers to Xbox’s premiere game subscription service will be paying a little less per month, but at a cost to some gamers.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the top tier in Microsoft’s gaming service, dropped from $29.99 per month to $23.99, the company announced Tuesday.
Along with the price chance, however, Xbox said future Call of Duty titles will not be coming to the service at launch. Instead, they will be added to the service the following holiday season, or roughly a year later.
All Call of Duty titles already on the service will remain there.

It was just six months ago that Microsoft increased the price of Game Pass Ultimate to $30.

Tuesday’s price change comes after The Verge reported that new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma believes the Game Pass service was too expensive.
“Our players cover a wide breadth of geographies, preferences, and tastes, so while there isn’t a single model that’s best for everyone, this change responds to a lot of feedback we’ve gotten so far,” the company said Tuesday. “We’ll continue to listen and learn.”
Along with console subscribers now paying less per month, the price of PC Game Pass likewise dropped from $16.49 to $13.99.
