BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Negro Southern League Museum is set to celebrate one of the greatest to ever play the game.
Jackie Robinson Day will be celebrated April 19 in Birmingham and will feature live music, food, vendors and, of course, baseball.
Robinson, a four-sport athlete out of Pasadena, Calif., broke racial barriers when he became the first Black athlete to play for a Major League Baseball team.

Jackie Robinson Day, celebrated annually in the MLB on April 15, commemorates the day in 1947 when Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Locally, Jackie Robinson Day will feature live musical performances by the Birmingham Youth and Young Adult Fellowship Choir, Tracy’s Sensational Seniors, Freestyle Percussion Foundation, GAPLO, Shaheed and DJ Supreme.
