MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WBRC) - A quilt studio in Alabama is making quilting cool again — one stitch at a time.
Meet Melissa, founder of S.K. Quilts Studio and the creative force behind Six Kids Quilts. Since 2014, she’s been turning everyday fabric —and meaningful memories — into bold, handmade quilts that are equal parts comfort, art, and storytelling.

This isn’t your “dusty craft closet” kind of quilting. At Six Kids Quilts, the vibe is welcoming, hands-on and community-driven — whether you’re commissioning a t-shirt quilt from old concert tees, leveling up a project with award-winning longarm quilting or showing up to sew alongside others who just get it.

What Six Kids Quilts offers
- Longarm quilting (edge-to-edge and custom designs)
- T-shirt and memory quilts, plus quilt finishing
- Open sew days, workshops and studio memberships for makers of all levels
- Quilt of Valor Sew Days, stitching quilts to honor local veterans
- Fabric donation options to help create quilts for people in need
- Quilt Devotions, a faith-forward series blending quilting and encouragement
