BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Spend your weekend hopping around Birmingham-area egg hunts and spring festivals. From free community events to animal adventures and plenty of photo ops with the Easter Bunny, here are the best family-friendly ways to celebrate.
Epic Egg Hunt at Your Birmingham Zoo
Spend a fun-filled day at the Birmingham Zoo on Saturday, April 4, as the kids search for eggs on Henley Lawn. The egg-citement is split into three different age groups for the hunts from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The best part? The egg hunt is FREE with zoo admission.
Spring Festival at Railroad Park
Bring your baskets and lawn chairs for the City of Birmingham’s Spring Festival at Railroad Park. Join the community from 1-4 p.m. for the free event, which includes an Easter egg scavenger hunt, food trucks, face painting, balloon art, DJ, photos with Buddy the Bunny and giveaways.

Vestavia Hills invites you to join their Easter Extravaganza Egg Hunt on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. In addition to scavenging eggs, your family will have a chance to snap photos with Big Bunny, play games, eat snacks and even pet cute animals!
Irondale’s Easter Eggs-perience
Hop over to the City of Irondale on Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. for an Easter Eggs-perience like no other. The event, which will be held at Ruffner Park Sports Complex, offers free ice cream, photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts, an egg hunt and more.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Athletics hosts their annual Dragon Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4. Gates open at 11 a.m. and guests 12 and under can begin hunting eggs at 11:45 a.m. Following the egg hunt, fans will have access to inflatables and vendors.

Looking for a fun-filled festival of activities? Head to The Summit on Saturday, April 4 from 10-11:30 a.m. Children will have the chance to collect five eggs and trade them in for a bag of treats. The egg hunts, which will be separated by age groups, are not the only excitement happening at The Summit. Enjoy themed craft stations, face painting, popsicles, Easter candy and more before popping into your favorite retailers and restaurants.
Located in Leeds, The Shops at Grand River are hosting a free Easter event on Saturday, March 28. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, balloon art, bounce houses, and a unique egg hunt with stops throughout the mall. Don’t forget to bring your camera to snag a photo with the Easter Bunny. The activities start at noon, so don’t be late!
