VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WBRC) - Walking in, Mark’s Mart feels like visiting a European food market. That was the design by the King family when they first opened.
Now, with their new location in Vestavia Hills and third overall, people can get a taste of a high quality meal for a good price.
Brian King says there area lot of local products to choose from. Supporting Alabama-made is something they aim to do.
“We try to support as many people as we can. So it’s neat to bring the entire region together,” Kind said. “We’ve got things that we’re bringing from local suppliers in Selma and Tuscaloosa as well, you know, relationships that we’ve made over 50 years.”
Mark’s aims to have a little bit of everything, including a high quality selection of wine.

“So what we focus on is having the highest quality wine for the best value that you might not necessarily find in convenience stores or grocery stores,” King said. “We make sure that it’s the best that we can get into the store.”
From honey to cheese straws to even the wine, Mark’s has you covered. But people also come for the food, including a $7 burger than King says might be the best in town.
However, if you’ve never visited Mark’s Mart before, King didn’t hesitate when asked what his recommendation would be.
“Absolutely the chicken swirl paired with the twice baked potato” he said, talking about the customer favorite consisting of chicken wrapped in bacon. “If you want something a little unique, I’d say the filet jalapeno popper is always a winner.”
The hot bar goes quickly every day, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

“We can only make so many because we just don’t know how many people are going to show up that day,” he said. “But everybody’s loved it.”
