BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Northeast Community YMCA has reopened in the Roebuck neighborhood following a renovation that added new programs, upgraded classrooms and expanded community spaces.
The facility, located at 628 Red Lane Road, reopened in August 2025.
It now offers early learning, exercise, mental health care, pediatric care and community gathering spaces, in addition to programs previously available at the location.
The Northeast Community YMCA was one of the first suburban YMCA branches built in Birmingham, opening in 1962. The branch served youth and an active older adult population for decades.

As community needs changed, the YMCA identified a need for upgrades and new partnerships to continue serving the area. The renovation was supported by community partners and city, county and state governments.
