BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A new cocktail bar has opened in Birmingham’s Battery District, housed in a building that dates to 1890 and operated by two longtime local bartenders.
Bygone’s Cocktail Bar is located at 210 22nd Street South and is open daily beginning at 3 p.m. The bar is owned by Michael Tobey and Phillip Crowe.
The space sits in a historic building that has not been significantly modified since its construction. Tobey and Crowe said they preserved the building’s original aesthetic while adding details including green velvet booths and brass hardware.
“You never know who will come into our place,” Tobey and Crowe said. “It doesn’t matter what your job is, or what country you come from, we wanted this to be a space where you can get away.”

The bar’s menu features cocktails made with fresh ingredients including raspberries, pine needles, black peppercorn and chestnuts sourced from Talladega. The owners said they pair high-quality spirits with those ingredients.

Bygone’s also offers a wine tap housed in barrels, a system the owners said keeps wine from being exposed to oxygen.

The bar is located across from Birmingham District Brewing Company and next to The Painted Lady hotel. More information is available when you click or tap here.
