BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Marvel Studios is bringing back one of the original Avengers in the next installment of their franchise series.

The first teaser trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday" dropped Tuesday, Dec. 23, and confirms Chris Evans will be back as Steve Rogers.

In the trailer, Rogers is seen arriving at his home on a motorcycle before packing away his Captain America uniform and holding a baby, presumably his and Peggy Carter’s.

Evans, who seemingly wrapped up his stint as the former Captain America in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” had previously shot down rumors he was returning to Marvel Studios as Steve Rogers.

“That’s not true,” Evans told Esquire in January, addressing the rumors of his return that keep popping up. “It happens every couple years—ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it.”

Evans was most recently tied to Marvel Studios in 2024’s “Wolverine & Deadpool,” in which he reprised his role as Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four.

It was announced last year that Robert Downey, Jr. would be returning to the franchise, though not as the iconic Tony Stark. This time, Downey would suit up as one of Marvel’s most notorious and popular villains of all time, Dr. Doom.

Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” releases in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
