VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WBRC) - There is a hidden gem in Vestavia Hills.
The Local Bourbon House and Eatery is where owner Kiran Sunkavalli has poured his heart and soul into two of his favorite things - great food and bourbon.
He and Chef JP Holland have created a smorgasbord of delectable eating.
Although Sunkavalli is a medical doctor, he decided not to practice medicine. Instead, he dove headfirst into using his tech background to create culinary masterpieces. He can break down which food pairs with what alcohol.
Holland, meanwhile, is the hand behind the food preparation.

Together, they are The Local Bourbon House and Eatery.
They did a survey asking many Vestavia residents what they wanted in the area. Turns out, residents said they wanted a meat and three spot. But, The Local didn’t stop there. They also wanted a place where families can hang out.
Sunkavalli is building a 4,000-square foot patio that will entertain any age group.
They take the “local” in their name very seriously, sourcing local Wagyu beef to make what they are known for, their smash burgers.
The Local Bourbon House and Eatery is located at 633 Montgomery Highway in Vestavia.
