West Alabama Women’s Center hosts free breast health event

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - West Alabama Women’s Center (WAWC Healthcare) hosts their 2nd annual BOO”bie” Exam event on Friday, Oct. 31. The event is scheduled from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at their facility located at 535 Jack Warner PKWY Suit, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the event provides education, free screenings, and resources to help individuals protect their breast health.

“Breast cancer awareness isn’t just about wearing pink—it’s about taking action. By providing accessible clinical breast exams and education, we aim to empower our community with the tools to protect their health,” said Crystina Hughes, WAWC Healthcare Community Outreach Director.

Licensed healthcare professional Dr. Stephanie Mitchell, DNP, CNM, CPM will perform free clinical breast exams. The event is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcomed as space allows.
