BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - After 10 years away, dad’s coming home.
After making the announcement in April that American Dad! would return to FOX, fans now know when to expect new episodes.
Seth McFarlane’s animated series, which has aired on TBS since 2014, is returning to the station where it first debuted 20 years ago in 2026.
While revealing the full 2025-26 TV schedule, FOX revealed that the show would return as a midseason premiere to join other Animation Domination favorites such as Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, and more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX Television Network president Michael Thorn said getting the show back on the network was a simple decision.

“We got a chance to have another show with Seth [MacFarlane], and we took it,” Thorn said. “He’s a great partner for us, and it extends our reach to our very passionate animation audience. It complements our lineup in a terrific way.”
In April, FOX ordered four more seasons of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and American Dad! to be produced by 20th Television Animation, which is a part of Disney Television Studios.
American Dad! debuted on FOX on Feb. 6, 2005 and ran through 2014 before moving to TBS for 10 years.
