Sozo Trading Co., in collaboration with Blank Space Bham, has completed a new community art mural located on 1st Avenue South & 41st Street in Avondale on the exterior wall of Sozo Trading Co.’s upscale thrift store.

Created by artists Meghan McCollum, Levi Levinson, Jordan Thompson and Lydia Walker of Blank Space Bham, the mural brings life to the static white panel walls with a vibrant indigo print pattern accented with white flowers and the inspirational quote, “What you do matters,” chosen by polling the local Birmingham community.

More Murals in the Works

Sozo Trading Co. plans to have four additional murals painted along the exterior wall that runs parallel to the railroad tracks on First Avenue South over the next couple of years. The hope is this first in a series of murals will inspire individuals while motivating local community partners to financially sponsor future mural projects with similar messages along the Sozo Trading Co. building in Avondale.
