Microsoft reveals Black Friday deals on Xbox consoles, games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Gaming is always a hot commodity when it comes to holiday shopping and 2023 is going to be no different.

Retailers use price cuts, bundles, BOGO offers and more to get consoles and games into the hands of gamers at deep discounts. While a handful of retailers have announced their plans for Black Friday, Xbox deals begin Friday straight from the source.

Microsoft announced Thursday the company’s plans for this year’s holiday shopping season, including discounts on consoles, games and even the company’s Xbox Design Lab.

Beginning Nov. 17, select digital games will be 50% off and select PC digital games with be 67% off. Meanwhile, a selection of games from Xbox Game Studios will be marked down 65%.

If you’re in the market for an Xbox Series S or Series X, Microsoft’s consoles will be $50 off beginning Nov. 18.

The Series S and Series X, both released in 2020, are the current generation of the Xbox platform. The Series S Starter Bundle is an all-digital, lower tier version of the Xbox. Although it has no disc drive, the Starter Bundle includes a three-month subscription to Game Pass, Xbox’s subscription-based game service.

The Series X, meanwhile, is touted by Microsoft as “the fastest, most powerful Xbox ever” and can play physical disc and digital games in 4K resolution.

Both consoles can play the current generation of games released for the Xbox platform.

Anyone in the market for a new controller can get $10 off select wireless controllers on Nov. 18.

Lastly, on Nov. 22, gamers can get a free engraving on their custom Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 created with the Xbox Design Lab.
