BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Grab your mittens, sweater and beanie and head to the rink for a spin at Christmas on the Coosa this December.
Beginning December 4 through December 23, the pop-up winter wonderland will be located at 344 1st Street, Gadsden. Skate times are scheduled hourly with 15-minute breaks Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. For only $12, visitors over the age of three can skate around the 3,000 square feet ice-skating rink in rented specialty skates for one hour.
In addition to skating, there is an opportunity for guests to visit food and beverage vendors. To get the full experience, stay afterwards to warm up with a hot chocolate or kick back and relax with a Christmas themed cocktail. Before you leave, make sure you take advantage of the life-sized polar bear statues and other Insta-worthy photo opportunities.
“It’s beginning to feel like a Hallmark movie is coming to Gadsden,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford. “We are inviting everyone to come experience ice skating over the Coosa River, and while you’re here, you may want to visit Christmas at the Falls or take a carriage ride through downtown. This season, we want residents and visitors to make lifelong memories in Gadsden!”
Book reservations online in advance to avoid missing out. Tickets for the Christmas themed attraction go on sale November 1 here.
